" Il ne saurait y avoir de vérité première. Il n'y a que des erreurs premières ", disait Bachelard. L'erreur est partout, l'erreur est humaine. Depuis les débuts de la philosophie en Grèce avant notre ère, les philosophes ont cherché à comprendre pourquoi nos raisonnements sont souvent imparfaits, pourquoi nous nous trompons et comment nous prévenir de l'erreur. Tous se sont attachés à formaliser les façons de penser juste. Avec un succès relatif. Plus près de nous, les psychologues ont pris la relève. Leur exploration des recoins du raisonnement humain les ont conduits à mettre en avant le rôle d'autres règles de pensée que celles de la logique : des règles intuitives, inconscientes, rapides, appelées heuristiques. Indispensables, ces raccourcis mentaux peuvent pourtant se transformer en courts-circuits. Le coupable se nomme alors " biais cognitif ". Des individus rationnels se trompent tous les jours parce qu'il n'est pas rationnel de passer ses journées à essayer de ne pas se tromper. La bonne attitude consiste plutôt à être conscient des biais inévitables - il n'est pas possible de penser sans point de vue -, tout en évitant les biais qui polluent inutilement. C'est ce à quoi vous invitent Luc de Brabandere et Anne Mikolajczak, à travers un éventail de mises en situation, d'exemples et de tests, plus étonnants les uns que les autres.
