Accueilli comme l album du fils prodigue, les quarts de tons de sa trompette fonctionnaient comme une entreprise de s duction en croisant influences orientales et lectronique domestiqu e Con u comme un diptyque, "Diachronism" fusionne encore les deux en articulant le "Disoriental" et le "Paradoxidental", une remise en question radicale des origines dans une musique qui ne manque pas de personnalit , ni d quilibre Sans c der simplement aux sir nes ni de l lectro-jazz ni du jazz oriental Ibrahim Maalouf combine au contraire ces deux influences de mani re tr s fine par petites touches. Le feu qui couve plut t que le grand incendie donc. Ce qui lui permet de s envoler vers des cieux lointains ou de trouver avec M un comp re et une voix de choix pour "Bizarre" L Orient d un c t -les accents turcs du saz, le oud d Adnan Jubran-, l Occident des machines et des traitements subis par la trompette de l autre, se d roulent se d routent aussi, se prennent l un pour l autre. Il ya chez Maalouf du Molvaer, du Truffaz, avec ses phrases longues en bouche, mais surtout la volont de prendre la boussole contrepied et d inverser les p les.
